Girls in STEAM at Oakdale Elementary School 2019-2020

Working in collaboration with Facebook, Kiewit and Sherwood Foundations, community organizations (UNO, UNL, Collective for Youth, Girl Scouts, STEM Ecosystem, 75 North, Scott Scholars) and school districts (Westside and Papillion/LaVista) to bring STEM education/careers to students, specifically girls ages 8-14. The Girls in STEAM event is a 10-week program (1 event/week) where we engage, enrich and empower girls to see themselves as someone who could excel in STEM education (and future careers) in a safe and positive environment.

Prairie STEM staff completed a 10-week Girls in STEAM program at 6 public schools in the Omaha area. This past year our program consisted of over 200 girls from the Omaha Metro area who went on to compete in the Nebraska Robotics Expo!
