Saturday’s Gaming For Good Virtual Esports Tournament for the Twelve and Under Fortnite Players was a Big Success, Winning $150 to Charities

Four streaming sites held separate tournaments for nineteen teams, (thirty-eight players), until the Semi-Finals round, where the top eight teams converged for the playoffs, all hosted by Prairie STEM.

They played Fortnite in teams of two and all chose their favorite charity before the competition began. Congratulations to the top 3 winners of that competition:

Coming in 3rd Place was team DogWaterDuo, winning $50 for Team Trees, 2nd Place went to team Wanted, giving their $100 winnings to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Nebraska Chapter, and winning 1st Place was team Azer/Turtles, donating $150 to Cancer Research. Amazing job everyone!

Special thanks to the shoutcasters of the four streaming sites, FriskyBiscuit99, Will & Rohs, Davin & JD, Ryan & Darren, some of which are Scott Scholars from UNO. Two of the shoutcasters were also streaming tournaments, Davin and Darren. Their contributions to the tournament completed the whole experience for the participants and spectators. They all did an amazing job! Thank you so much!

It is rewarding to see so many young people competing to give back to their community. When you hear them speak before the tournaments, they are all truly excited about donating to their cause. Many of them have a personal reason for choosing their particular charity. All participants can be should feel very good about themselves for competing in these tournaments, whether they win or lose. You are working to make a difference!
